Angela & Maurice Becker Scholarship



General Eligibility
The purpose of Angela and Maurice Becker Memorial Scholarship at York College was established in the loving memory of Angela and Maurice Becker. The award will provide financial aid to a York College student who was adopted, has adopted a child, or is currently in a foster home. 
  • Full-time student (Must be registered for at least 12 credits)
  • Must have a GPA of 2.80 or higher. 
  • All Majors are welcome to apply.
  • Academic Status (Upper Freshman-Upper Junior) 12-105 Credits

  • Up to 2 recipients will receive between $500 in the Spring Semester.
  • Funds for Scholarships can be used towards tuition, books and/or other related educational expenses.

  • Open to all majors.
  • Applicants have applied for and received financial aid for the 2025–2026 academic year.
  • Applicants are considered first-generation college students. (The student's parent(s) or legal guardian(s) did not complete a four-year bachelor’s degree from a university in the United States.)

  • Describe how you celebrate Latin culture with your family, friends or community. How have these cultural experiences influenced your desire and motivation to obtain a college degree? Additionally, how do you plan to use your education to further support and uplift your community or profession?

  • The four (4) undergraduate scholarship recipients must attend the ¡Adelante! Leadership Institute at HACU's 39th Annual Conference from November 1-3, 2025, in Aurora, Colorado. Expenses (travel, hotel lodging, and registration) are included as a scholarship benefit.

Dennis Moorman Memorial Scholarship



Established in memory of Dr. Dennis Moorman, Professor of Music at York College.

The scholarship provides talented and deserving students with the opportunity to pursue a music education with an emphasis in Music, Music Education, Music Production, or Music Composition.

  • Open to students pursuing degrees (associate, bachelor, master, doctorate) that will lead to careers as Clinical Professionals that may include Physician, Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, Nurse, Pharmacist, Dentist, Social Worker, Addiction Counselor, Clinical Psychologist, or other related clinical professions. 
  • At the time of application, students must have at least (1) one year of study remaining before their anticipated degree completion date.

  • All scholarship recipients are invited to apply for HACU National Internship Program with corporate and federal partners.

Requirements for Scholarship Recipient: 

  • (40) Forty undergraduate scholarship recipients will be selected to attend the ¡Adelante! Leadership Institute at HACU's 40th Annual Conference from October 31 – November 2, 2026, in Chula Vista, California. Expenses (travel, hotel lodging, and registration) are included as a scholarship benefit.

Kenneth G. Adams Memorial Scholarship



Established in memory of Prof. Kenneth G. Adams, Professor of Music at York College.

  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale).

Additional Criteria: 

  • Applicants must submit proof of English language proficiency to the HACU member school through their LanguageCert Academic or LanguageCert iESOL English test.
  • Applicants can submit a copy of this test on their scholarship dashboard.

Levin Scholarship for Excellence in the Sciences



Dr. Eugene Levin (1934-2004), a charter faculty member of York College, was a popular and highly respected Professor of Physics. To honor his memory, the Levin family has established the Professor Eugene Levin Scholarship for Excellence in the Science (Levin Scholarship). The purpose of this scholarship is to provide aid to students who have made a commitment to the sciences.

Award Amount: 1 award of $13,145
  • Spring 2025- Disbursement 1:  $2,715
  • Summer 2025-Disbursement 2:  $5,000 [2 payments of $2,500 -Internship] 
  • Fall 2025- Disbursement 3: $2,715 
  • Spring 2026- Disbursement 4:  $2,715

Gosnell Memorial Scholarships are awarded to master's degree candidates in social work who have demonstrated a commitment to working with, or who have a special affinity with, American Indian/Alaska Native and Hispanic/Latino populations. Candidates who have demonstrated a commitment to working with public or voluntary nonprofit agencies or with local grassroots groups in the United States are also eligible.

In 2025, based on available funding, NYCHA will offer several scholarships to support its residents in advancing their education and increasing their income and assets. These scholarships aim to assist eligible residents pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees at a City University of New York (CUNY) college. Each scholarship provides a one-time $1,000 award to recipients.

  • NYCHA-CUNY Resident Scholarship – for NYCHA residents who are enrolled full-time at a City University of New York (CUNY) college
  • Regina A. Figueroa Memorial Scholarship – for NYCHA residents with a documented disability who are enrolled either part-time or full-time at a CUNY college
  • Levine Family Scholarship – for NYCHA residents who are enrolled full-time at a City University of New York (CUNY) college
  • Kofi Hormeku Scholarship – for NYCHA residents residing in Brooklyn who are enrolled full-time at a CUNY college
  • Kisha Jackson Memorial Scholarship – for NYCHA residents living in Downtown Brooklyn who are enrolled full-time at a CUNY college
  • Amazon NYCHA-CUNY Scholarship – for NYCHA Residents who are enrolled full-time at a City University of New York (CUNY) college

Eligibility Criteria: Authorized NYCHA public housing residents and Section 8 recipients; currently enrolled full-time graduate and undergraduate CUNY students; 24 or more credits; minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.

Pomilla Award for Science Teaching



This award honors Dr. Frank Pomilla, Emeritus Professor of Physics and founding member of York College. He was the first chair of the original Department of Natural Sciences. He retired from York in 1992.

His children, with the assistance of colleagues and friends, have established this award in honor of Dr. Pomilla's love of and dedication to York College and its students.

This award aims to recognize academic excellence and financially aid students committed to excellence in the sciences.
 
Eligibility Criteria
  • Full-time student (Must be registered for at least 12 credits)
  • Must have completed 60 college credits at York
  • Minimum of 3.25 GPA or higher at the time of application, and must be maintained
  • Majoring in Environmental Health, Geology, Physics, Biology, or Chemistry
Award Amount: 1 award of $2,000.00





President Keizs English Award

To encourage and recognize an outstanding junior or senior majoring in English. This award is given to support the student's continued study at the College.
 

Award Amount: $1,000 to be used for tuition, fees, and other educational expenses.


Requirements:

  • Matriculated undergraduate student
  • Junior Class Standing
  • Minimum 60-90  earned credits 
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA or greater
  • Declared English Major

Selection:  The recipient will be selected by the English Department Scholarship Committee.

The Dr. Taen-Yu Dai Memorial Award



The Dr. Taen-Yu Dai Memorial Award was established to honor his legacy of supporting graduating seniors who plan to continue their studies in Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.

To be eligible for the Dr. Taen-Yu Dai Memorial Award:
 
  • 3.3 GPA or higher
  • Declared in Mathematics, Computer Science, or an adjacent field.
  • Full-Time Student
  • graduating senior of the class of 2025 (degree must have been confirmed Summer 2024, Fall 2024, or Spring 2025)
  • Pursuing an advanced degree within the field (Master, PhD, etc.) or adjacent field (i.e., MBA).

The Eye-Bank for Sight Restoration is pleased to offer an annual STEM Scholarship in memory of James Fabian, Esq., former President of The Eye-Bank in the amount of $3,000.

The Eye-Bank together with the Fabian family commemorate his enduring legacy with the following STEM Scholarship to help a qualified student pursue higher education in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics – fields that Mr. Fabian considered essential to the advancement and benefit of today’s society.

Awarded to an outstanding post-graduate candidate pursuing a doctoral or master’s degree in the field of mental health. The Melanie Foundation was created in 2006 to honor the life and legacy of Melanie Merola O’Donnell, with the mission to foster support for mental health issues. Melanie lived a life of giving, focusing her career on relieving suffering inflicted by mental illness. Melanie died at the age of 33 while in the midst of doctoral studies in psychology. Her family and friends subsequently collaborated to bring The Melanie Foundation to life, with the initial goal of providing scholarships to people who had the best chance of extending Melanie’s legacy.
